About Us
Soundwave Academy is devoted to teaching lifelong musicianship through group instruction. Our holistic approach emphasizes chamber music, keyboard skills, and music theory/ear training as a supplement to primary instrument studies. Our unique program offers weekly chamber music coachings, theory/ear training instruction, guest artists, professional development, as well as piano and songwriting lessons. From classical to mainstream, students are encouraged to explore and nurture their understanding of music and the fulfilling opportunities that come from being a well-rounded musician.

What to Expect
Weekly group classes will consist of chamber music coachings, ear training, solfege, and more! Once placed in a group you will rehearse or be coached by a faculty member each week on your chamber music selection. Additionally we will work on ear training, theory, and solfege practices that will help you be a better informed musician.
It is our hope that each student will seek out private instruction on their primary instrument in addition to attending Soundwave if they have not already done so. We do not offer private instruction through the Academy. It is important to remember that your group is depending on you to represent your part in the ensemble, so individual practice is paramount.
Each week the facility will be open to schedule rehearsals with your group and or piano lessons before or after classes. Additional time may be granted at this facility if needs demand.
Piano lessons are not included in the tuition and will be scheduled with Alyssa Murray after application if so desired. Payment for piano lessons will be directed to Alyssa Murray.
All classes and piano lessons will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church at: 1700 Westport Rd, Kansas City, MO 64111. Parking can be found in the west parking lot. Please see a list of the exact dates on the CALENDAR page. To schedule piano lessons before or after classes please indicate your request on your application.
